School of Dental Medicine

Founded in 1868, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine is the second largest Dental School in the United States; it has an international reputation for funding innovative dental education and pioneering research with a commitment to compassionate patient care and community service.

While the fields of dentistry and medicine have traditionally been worlds apart, increasing evidence of links between oral health and overall well being and revolutionary advances in dental care and research bring exciting possibilities for providing oral health care to people of all ages.

Committed to interdisciplinary teaching, research, and practice, TUSDM is prepared to respond to these new demands. Here, research and teaching are complementary - from restorative dentistry to community health; faculty and students understand how to apply science to practice.

Among our signature basic science, clinical, and public health reserach laboratories:

  • Dental Materials
  • Oral Medicine
  • Craniofacial and Molecular Genetics
  • Bone Remodeling
  • Anxiety and Pain Control
  • Public Health/Access to Care
  • Pediatric Dentistry

Success in this exciting and challenging environment will require dedication, creative thinking, and increasingly greater collaborations between industry, academia, and other non-profit organizations.
