Proposal Guidelines

Corporate Support

When corporations make grants to Tufts, they look for return on investment:

  • An improved corporate image
  • An improved environment in their communities
  • An improved path to reaching business goals

Funding proposals should emphasize how the project is related to their business as well as to their corporate social responsibility. In general, it’s helpful to think “big” and request funds for projects that will have significant impact.

CFR can help you to research and identify potential corporate funders and position your request appropriately on behalf of you and the university.

Foundation Support

Foundations award grants to Tufts when there’s a convincing case that the award will help the foundation reach its long-term goals.

Each has specific funding priorities such as the elderly or homelessness or global health, and many limit their giving to define purposes, e.g., building funds, operating support, equipment or seed capital. Many limit their contributions to specific geographic areas, e.g. a city , state or region.

Proposal must take into account each foundation’s program restrictions or requirements, and communicate the request in a way that appeals to the foundation’s self-defined mission.

CFR can help you to identify the right potential foundation funders and prepare your proposal for maximum advantage. We're glad to consult with you about potential projects at any stage--please let us know how we can be of help: (617) 627-3487, or email to cfr@tufts.edu .
